K Monique’s Performance Kompany is the perfect fit for dancers wishing to take the next step with their dancing and experience an introduction into the performance and competition scene. The perfect mix of our recreational level and company levels of dancing. It is expected of these dancers to meet once a week for a two hour period of time. Through these two hours, dancers will learn multiple choreography pieces of various styles as well as participate in an introductory jazz technique class. Performance Kompany will perform at local events (subject to availability), compete at an in town competition, as well as participate in our annual showcase at the end of the season. We look forward to seeing you in the studio!

PERFORMANCE KOMPANY ATTIRE & APPEARANCE

FACE



FOUNDATION: A liquid or liquid-to-powder foundation that is the same color as the dancer’s face.

POWDER: Each dancer may want to have a pressed powder compact in their makeup bag to help stop the “shiny face” affect when they sweat under the stage lights.

EYES



BASE COLOR: Each dancer must have a light beige color that will be applied over the entire eye.

CENTER & LID COLOR: Each dancer must have a medium brown that will be applied to the eyelid and a darker brown in the crease of the eye.

Once the colors are applied in the order listed above, they must be blended to create a smooth transition between the colors and provide a dimension to the eye that will “pop” on stage.

EYELINER: Each dance must wear blackeyeliner on the top and bottom lids over the eyeshadow to make the eye stand out.

MASCARA: Apply a few coats of blackmascara to both the top and bottom lashes.

CHEEKS



Each dancer must have a dark rose color blush that will accentuate the cheek bones. Begin application of the blush directly under the center of the pupil and brush in a circular upward motion, being careful not to bring the color too close to the hairline by the ears. Once the color is applied, lock it in with a gentle dab of powder. This will set the color into the skin and postpone reapplication throughout the day.


LIPS



Each dancer must have a cherry red lipstick. A great, long-lasting brand is MAC Red. The MAC line can be purchased at Macy’s in Glenbrook Mall or online at maccosmetics.com. Less expensive versions can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc. Please make sure it is a cherry red and not a maroon color. Each dancer may also want to apply a clear gloss on top of the red to add moisture and stop the lips from drying due to the texture of the lipstick.

BODY



Please use lotion to ensure the skin is not dry.

NAILS



Absolutely NO colored finger or toe nail polish allowed. French manicure or clear coat is acceptable.

HAIR



FOR PERFORMANCES ONLY

High slicked-back ponytail making sure that there are no flyaways. Using hairspray and gel will ensure the hair lasts through the performance.

APPAREL



CLOTHING: Form-fitting dance clothing – booty shorts, tight tank top or sports bra. Apparel can be any color.

SHOES: Tan jazz shoes can be purchased at Standing Ovation
