K. Monique's Studio of Dance provides a strong, accurate, and intense instruction of dance in its true art form. It is our mission to build character while building a strong dance foundation in a positive, uplifting environment. Members are encouraged to apply the discipline, motivation, and encouragement taught in the dance room to their everyday lives.
Recreational classes are offered in ballet, tap, jazz, dance development, lyrical, technique, and hip-hop. Recreational members will be given one recital piece.
If a child is signing up after spring break, it is up to the discretion of Kristin and/or the teacher as to whether that child can participate in the June recital.
K. Monique's Studio of Dance offers a dance company for those who qualify. Dance Company members will have the opportunity to compete locally and nationally, and attend workshops and dance conventions designed to challenge them as a dancer.
Participants will be able to tryout for one or all of the following companies: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Contemporary/Lyrical, and ballet, or a combination thereof.
Monthly invoices will NOT be sent out as a reminder that tuition is due.
Tuition remains the same each month and is due by the 1st of the month (NOT the first lesson). You are welcome to pay for more than one month at a time. Payments for anything other than tuition (such as costumes, tights, dancewear, apparel, etc.) should be made payable to K. Monique's Studio of Dance. For your convenience all payments may be mailed to:
Kristin M. Thompson
6105 West Jefferson Blvd.
Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804
Late Fee: For Recreational classes a $10.00 late fee will be added to tuition that is not paid by the 5th of each month. For Company classes a $20.00 late fee will be added to tuition that is not paid by the 5th of each month. This late fee applies to ALL students and ALL circumstances. Please plan ahead for unexpected circumstances, absences, and/or vacations. Late fees that are not paid will accumulate and be added to the following month’s tuition. All late fees must be paid to participate in competitions and recital. Any account that remains delinquent for two months must be paid in order for the dance member to continue to participate in class. Returned checks will incur a $60.00 charge.
No Refunds: There are no refunds on tuition, costume, or apparel payments.
Private Lessons: All solo/duet/trio private lesson fees need to be paid in cash or check directly to the instructor -- not the studio. Private lesson fees will no longer be added into the monthly tuition statement. If the money is not handed to the instructor at the time of the private lesson, the lesson will be immediately cancelled.
Watch Week: We enjoy giving friends and family the opportunity to see our Recreational and Company students dance! Please join us in November 14 -18, 2016 for Watch Week.
Vacations: We follow Southwest Allen County Schools vacation schedule. The exceptions are Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day. Classes ARE in session on those Mondays.
Holiday Events: We allow members to dress up for Halloween and bring treats. Members are also welcome to share snacks/treats on any holiday occasion that they would like to celebrate. They may also bring a snack to share for their birthday. Please let us know if your child has allergies!
Bad Weather: If the weather is bad, please call (260-444-3437) to see if classes have been cancelled. Cancellations due to bad weather will not be rescheduled.
Make Up Lessons: If a dance member is absent from class due to illness or vacation, they will be allowed to make-up class. Members may take a different class in their age category as a make-up lesson if a comparable class is not available. Please let the instructor of the class know about vacations or lengthy illness.

We consider proper attire and neat hair in the dance room a sign of respect, responsibility, and professionalism. All members will be required to wear the appropriate dance attire for each class. Members not appropriately attired will be asked to sit out a class. No jeans allowed EVER! If you have any questions about what is appropriate to wear, please ask the instructor before purchasing new dance items.
It is a fabulous idea to label members dance shoes and belongings.
Ballet Attire, Females: pink dance tights; black leotard. Hair must be pulled away from face into a bun. Males: form-fitting shirt or tank top; soft pants or shorts such as basketball shorts.
Tap, Jazz, Lyrical Attire, Females: any color leotard, sports bra, or tank top; dance booty shorts and/or tights may be worn. Males: form-fitting shirt or tank top; soft pants or shorts such as basketball shorts.
Hip-Hop Attire: Form-fitting shirt, tank top, or long-sleeved shirt; active or sweat pants.
Dance Development Attire, Females: any color leotard and tights. Males: form-fitting shirt or tank top; soft pants or shorts such as basketball shorts.
Members should enter the dance room ready to dance. If you are bringing a child to class and are late, please ask the front desk attendant to take your dancer into his/her class.
Restrooms: It is VERY important to have your child use the restrooms before class!! We cannot let 3-4 year olds leave class to use the restrooms unattended. We also must avoid the “chain-reaction” that usually happens when one child asks -- they ALL ask!
Thank you for taking the time to read over our guidelines and for marking your calendars. We appreciate your support!
